Trip To Mount Bromo (And Surabaya)

As you might know from my public calendar, early this month I went to Mt. Bromo (with transit in Surabaya first). I was very delighted to have holiday out of town, especially for having a trip back to nature. And indeed it was a very pleasant trip. I met 5 new friends, well actually, from those 7 persons who went there together with me, I only knew 2 persons before. Those guys really know how to make a trip enjoyable. Can’t wait for the next trip! Lombok maybe? Haha.. :D

Anyway, some of the images below were already posted at my moblog directly from the scene, or so. I was quite amazed at how good the HSDPA signal from my provider there, although you really have to find the right spot to be connected. But being a big city though, it wasn’t as easy as I thought to find HSDPA signal in Surabaya when compared to Jakarta or Bandung. Moreover in Mt. Bromo, it WAS difficult. Well maybe that’s the fun from being mobile in Indonesia, you really have to make good use of your feet and hands when searching for signal. Giddy Up! :p

Ow, a reader inspired me to explain this: the 1st four thumbnails on the second picture is NOT a view of an ocean or a lake. It’s a carpet of clouds. We can see that view since we’re at a higher elevation than clouds. Very, beautiful!

SOEDOE Exhibition @ Jakarta

Not much to say about this. It was an exhibition in Balai Kartini, Jakarta, held by the Indonesian Government for five days from 6th to 10th of August. It’s free, both for the exhibitors and the visitors. But you know, being a *FREE* government agenda, most of the times we have to get a good grip and high measures of patience when dealing with the people.

Also, there’s nothing special with the selling revenue. But that’s not the point from the first place. We really hope to get a good publication and a higher public awareness from the exhibition. I hope I can see the results soon.

We welcome you, Ramadhan

And last but not least, *eww, the language*, Mohon maaf lahir dan batin. Bener2 minta maaf seandainya ada salah2 kata ato perbuatan ato menjatuhkan harapan dan sebagainya, mohon dimaafin. I truly am. Mudah2an kita bisa belajar lebih baik lagi dalam Ramadhan besok.

Anyway, I was also delighted when I read the news that says this year, most likely there will be no difference among muslim organizations in Indonesia regarding the decision for the starting date of Ramadhan and Shawal. 1st of Ramadhan will be on the 1st of September, and the 1st of Shawal will be on the 1st of October. It’s just great.

Peace. Out.

The Audition

Two tough days. 1060 participants. Passed the first elimination resulting in 127 participants left, including myself. Second elimination: failed miserably!

The moral: Never attend any audition without at least, read the entire book once and practice. Doh!

Peace. Out.

Untitled Sunday

It’s all started out with a quiet beautiful sunday morning. It was bright, yellow flowers blossoming although some of them fallen in pieces onto the ground.
untitled sunday
It was warm and comfortable in the morning. In a very short glance I remembered how hot and humid the day could become when the sun was staring down right over my head as it was in the previous day. But the splash (or maybe “hot burst” to be precise) didn’t draw me from enjoying the nice early weather.

As I arrived at the lab and fired up my hackintosh, a bell rang telling me that my sister has her birthday that very moment. Ow yes, 7th October I remembered. Not a very good brother myself, but I try to keep track of at least moment-of-importance of people from my surroundings. I didn’t want to waste time as I texted her immediately and say her a happy birthday, and wish all the best for her.
four of us
The girl in mention is the one who laid her left hand over my shoulder. She’s my younger sis, and the one next to her is my older sis. The embraced as the youngest is my li’l bro.

Anyway, I came that bloody Sunday to supervise the last day of the PV installation (read: Photovolataic Installation). All the job done, only mount the PV on the roof that is. There are still some work left including the wiring and such though. But that’s another story since we need an appropriate electric-current inverter to be available to have the system fully functional. Here’s a screenshot of what the mounted PV looks like.

I hope I could write a detailed technical-explanation regarding what this is all about. Included but not limited to what the research goal is, results achieved and such. But later.. :p

Peace. Out.

Photovoltaic Installation

how high?
Can you guess how high was I standing? Well, not that I can see the whole Bandung up there, just enough for me to see what were the contractors doing up on the roof between Bio-building and FT-building (in ITB). Today is the third day they have work on the installation of photovoltaic panels. Here’s a wiki page describing what a PV panel/cell is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_cell in case you’re wondering.

This installation is part of my research project carried out together with my thesis supervisor Dr.-Ing Aman Mostavan. Roughly a year ago, he instructed me to send a research proposal to ITB. It was my first research proposal and lucky enough to be accepted by the institution and granted the rights to be funded IDR 50 Million for a work period of 10 months. The research period ends this November.

Tired for sure. But what a great experience indeed.

Peace. Out.

The Routine

the routine
Taking picture of myself? No, of course not. I’m not that narcist you know.. :p It’s doing our routine jobs, auditing our shop cashflow and such.

It was in the end of 2005 if I’m not mistaken. Me and Pandu had this conversation about running our own business. Soon we realized that two guys weren’t enough to acomplish the task. So finally, we decided to invite some of our friends to join and share the big vision. The lucky guys were Bram, Bowo and Usman. But the latter mentioned didn’t seem to fit in. So it was the four of us who really started the company to run, but then, superhero team was never consisted of only four, an even number. We started to think to invite another good friend of us, and the right decision was taken. Bama joined the team for good. Well in fact, those who run and control the company day-to-day up to the time I write this text are only Pandu, Bama and myself. Bram and Bowo decided to move out of Bandung and have other work.

So, picture doesn’t really tell thousand stories right? Hehe.. :p Anyway, in somewhat boring occasion in our second shop, I took the picture in the lamest view and pose, while Bama doing his responsibility on site. You can only see his hair in the mentioned picture though :p

Peace. Out.
